TX2K is a yearly event here in Houston, Texas. We are doing our part to make sure everyone gets their shot to race!

Starting the morning of the 14th (Monday morning) we had Nick Cole and his entire crew come into the shop. They came all the way from Wisconsin. They have the fastest stickshift truck in the world! It's a twin turbo S10. They had been testing the weekend before TX2K and torched a head. They needed the head welded up, resurfaced as well as being o-ringed again. We had the head finished and ready for him Monday afternoon! They also had a new car. A Cadillac CTS-V with twin turbos. This car had spun the main bearings. We got him a crank and align honed the block for them. That was finished Tuesday afternoon. From there that was all we could do for team colemann customs, the rest was up to them. After putting the head back on Nick's S10, they ran the qualifiers. Nick started eliminations sitting in the number 1 spot, with a 7.2 second pass in the quarter mile. Nick later spun in eliminations losing while trying to hit that 6-second pass. Great effort by that team thrashing all week to make it in the show.

The next customer we helped out was Juan Guerra with "The Bullet WS6."  His engine had been built from us a few years ago. During testing he had his coolant system pressurize on him. He had lifted a head. Juan had vulcan gaskets that cut grooves in the head, causing his heads to be machined. We got them here first thing Tuesday morning and did a full service and repair job on them. He received them Tuesday evening and got the car together on Thursday. He made qualifying Friday and made the event.

LME had a booth at TX2k for promotional reasons, showing off new products, talking with loyal customers, and showing future customers our products. It never fails, a racer lifts their head and needs a head gasket. We had planned for this occasion and had stocked up on gaskets. We brought our inventory in case a customer needed some. Without fail, we had two racers in need of gaskets. Due to our planning ahead we had what they needed and supplied them with some gaskets. The status of their car is unknown to us but we wanted to have gaskets on hand for time-sensitive work on these cars while at the track racing.

Here at LME we know our audience and customer base. We not only want to have the best product. We want it to be available to our people in this industry. We are still held back with part shortages but in the luck of the racers, we had what they needed. What a busy week of racing and building engines.
